Assistant Professor of Meteorology
The University of South Alabama Earth Sciences Department invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in meteorology to begin 15 August 2010. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Meteorology or a directly related field. An ABD will be considered, but significant preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. The candidate will teach upper level courses in either satellite meteorology or radar meteorology, as well as physical meteorology. Additional courses will be determined and developed as needed. Preference will be given to candidates who have a background in synoptic meteorology, especially some operational experience. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to perform research in a field of his or her choice through competitive external funding.
